What’s for dinner?

Posted in Good Food with tags , , on December 20, 2013 by Keona-Mlh aka Beauty by LTL

Well as normal I forgot. I always makes sure my husband has something for his black ass to eat and I normally nibble. Which is not good for my waist line. So I decide what the hell eat something decent because I’m cooking Yuletide dinner tomorrow and that is just fatness and happiness all wound up together lol.

So I had some left over stuffed clam. Hell one was enough for me. But I really didn’t way today (I know, I know). So I grabbed me a Granny Smith apple, some baby carrots and peanut butter. Drools!!! Always my perfect get to me. Filling and it satisfies my sweet and salty cravings. Then I decided why not go for it, and made a banana protein shake. I have a cup of water as well.

So I’m going to finish my din din and finish watching this Anime. It’s called Blade 6. Seems interesting so far. It only has a few episodes so that will hold me over while I prep the musters dinner and clean and organize my books.

Friday Night Dinner

So I went all out lol. I made short beef ribs, steak, and sweet potato and carrot casserole.

So what I did was marinate the streak in a mixture of mashed bananas, honey, balsamic vinegar, salt and pepper, hot sauce, and mustard. Let it sit in the sauce for a day. The ribs I had a mixture of ground black pepper, thyme, rosemary and other seasonings rubbed into them. I slathered them in bbq sauce. I Fried the steaks and put the ribs in the slow cooker for seven hours. The meat was tender and fell off the bone.

I made the casserole by baking the sweet potatoes for 50 minutes at 400, after poking holes in it. At the same time while they were cooling I was boiling the baby carrots so I can mash them into the sweet potatoes. Once they cooled I added an egg, Brown sugar, honey, salt, pepper, nutmeg, cinnamon and sugar. Mixed it till it was some what smooth, then topped it with a mixture of oats and brown sugar mixed. It was crunchy on top. Baked it at 350 for 40 minutes. Perfect. I was going to make cornbread but ran out of time. Luckily I had left over rice and potatoes from the bbq wings I made the other night.

All of that food took care of my weekend cooking lol. I hate cooking on the weekend.

Whats for Dinner?

Posted in Good Food with tags , , , , , on August 14, 2013 by Keona-Mlh aka Beauty by LTL

o I am always trying to figure out what to cook since I really don’t like cooking during the summer months. Its to hot, and I feel like a slave in the kitchen sweating and what not. I figure I go with the basics; chicken, potatoes, green beans, cornbread and lemonade.

So for the past day couple of days I have had some chicken wings marinating in a concoction of honey, balsamic vinegar, hot sauce, marjoram, thyme, rosemary sea slat and black pepper. It smelled so good when I opened the lid. I decided to throw them in the crock pot. I sprayed the pot than placed red potatoes at the bottom and then placed the wings on top. Put it on high and in about two and a half hours I will check the chicken and then poor some bbq sauce in there. I will probably make a pot of rice as well. My mother gave me her rice cooker as she as about 12 of those things around the house.

I made lemonade this morning and will make the cornbread later on when the Mr arrives.

Right now I have the sauce from the wings and the shrimp mixed together and in the fridge. I am thawing out some steak and short beef ribs, and going to marinate the steak in the sauce and come up with a rub for the ribs.

I really need a few more crock pots. It is so easy to put dinner on in the morning and only have to clean up one dish.

The Hood Pioneer

So I’m trying to make all my foods at home and stray away from processed foods.

Since I’m now a homemaker, and focusing on school I will make the most of my husband’s income and keep us with money and low bills. Luckily I have money coming in, but I want to be savvy and start saving again.

So my mother got me addicted to The Pioneer Woman on the food network. If you haven’t watched her, please do so. You will never cook the same again. So I’m going to give it a try. I cook very well, just check out my husband’s mid section lol, and in not thick from McDonald’s lol.

So yesterday I decided I’m going to spend my check on groceries. I ordered meat, 25 pounds of: Scrapple, various breakfast sausages, ham, chicken legs, quarters, breast, thighs, ribs, ground beef and steak; 8 pound of seafood, 5lb of frozen fries, and over a hundred bucks on staples like rice, instant mashed potatoes, peppers, fruit, vegetables, canned beans, potatoes, yams, and baking supplies. And of course I have to by the chips for my husband’s lunch, the drinks and his kool-aid lol.

So the meats came from Girards Meat Market on 47 and Girard Ave. Now my order was delivered six hours late, because a driver called out at the last minute. So you know he got an ear full. It is a Muslim store and I will always by meats from there. Reason being, my grandfather is Jewish and raised us on eating Kosher. The meat is just fresh and always ground in store. That’s one thing I got from granddaddy is to always buy my meats Kosher. He said I don’t give a damn about your religious preference just by Kosher. So grandma did, ma does and I do.  So when I got my order I loved it. Fresh ground meat. Reminds me of my granddaddy’s restaurant he had in DC on K st, Sunset Diner. I miss that spot.

Any way I know I’m about to get my cook on and be Shayla Crocker up in this bitch lol. Think I spelled it right. I’m not checking either lol.

So I’m going to go through my cook books, food magazines, and my vegan books to see what I’m going to be fixing. I do want to make some banana bread and a pound cake for sure. Going to be making my own taco spice, hot sauce, and bbq rubs. I love dry bbq. That wet shit pisses me off lol. And I have a crock pot, yeah that baby will be used when I make those short beef ribs for my husband. The Carnivore lol.

So trust and believe I will update you and share ALL.

N.Y.P.D. Pizza

Posted in Good Food with tags , , , on July 26, 2013 by Keona-Mlh aka Beauty by LTL

So last night walking around Philly we decided to get something to eat. Which is surprisingly difficult since the city shuts down around 7, and only freaking clubs are open. And South Street lol.

So waking up Walnut we sort this pizza place. Who doesn’t love pizza. I know I LOVE IT! So I spot this pizza joint and I’m like let’s eat here. I need to find a good pizza place. So we walk in and out is so NY. I miss that. Walked in and my mouth was watering. So I got a slice of pizza that reminded me of the school pizza when I was in CT (born and raised). It was crunchy, cheesy, plenty of sauce and just enough grease to make it extra good. Washed it down with a sprite and my behind was good for the night lol.

If you want to stop by and get some good pizzas is on 140 South 11 Street. Absolutely good, and I can see that being a weekly spot to get a slice and just relax on the water.
